Why is this trip free?
What is the catch here? Good question. But as it sounds unbelievable, there is NO catch at all. Nichego, Nada, Nothing, Zilch, Zero. Well, it’s free to you but not to sponsors. In fact, each participant cost sponsors more than $3000. So you may ask, what sponsors want in return? Again: Nichego, Nada, Nothing, Zilch, Zero. The only action the sponsors of this free trip would like you to do upon your return is to let others know of its existence, so they too can experience the Taglit-Birthright Israel gift.
In conjunction with Taglit-Birthright Israel, Ezra is proud to offer you a free and unforgettable 10-day tour of Israel. This amazing gift is available to all Jewish young adults, ages 18 through 26 who have not been to Israel on a peer/educational tour after the age of 18. Taglit-Birthright Israel & Ezra North America offers you this extraordinary gift because we strongly believe that a visit to to Israel is your birthright. These tours are open to all Jews, regardless of background, affiliation or practice. This is an amazing opportunity to visit and fall in love with your homeland and become close friends with other participants.
There is, however, a $250 Deposit which is fully refundable upon going on the trip. (Meaning: You get the money back!)
Why Is There A “Refundable Deposit”?
There are three reasons Birthright requires such a deposit:
To ensure applicants are serious about going on the trip.
To ensure applicants will not cancel once assigned to a trip.
To ensure participants participate fully in the Birthright trip.
When Will My Deposit Be Refunded?
Within 1-2 weeks after participating in the trip you will get a email notifying you that your deposit is available to be refunded. This email may also contain information about how you can donate all or part of your deposit to Birthright Israel to help fund future Birthright Trips. If you do not recieve such an email – click here to claim your refund. You must request your refund within 30 days of returning from your trip or it will be automatically donated to Birthright Israel.
The trip is a gift and fully paid for by Birthright Israel.
Birthright Israel is an innovative partnership between the people of Israel through the Government of Israel, private philanthropists through the Birthright Israel Foundation and Jewish communities around the world (North American Jewish Federations, Keren Hayesod, and The Jewish Agency for Israel).
